The actual yield was obtained by subtracting the mass of the evaporating dish (42.43g) from the mass of the evaporating + zinc chloride resulting in an actual yield of 2.01g of zinc chloride. The purpose statement was supported by the stoichiometry problem because the difference of the theoretical and actual yield is so small that it is accounted for in the percent error; therefore, the experiment was successful.
