Rock Art of Africa
Several thousand years ago, human beings started life in Africa. As they began to organize themselves into societies, they equally began to produce various tools, implements, and art. Rock art and paintings are very early forms of art and have been discovered and preserved in many different parts of the continent.
Between 27,000 and 25,500 BC, human beings created some of their earliest paintings on rock faces in Namibia, Southern Africa. They also

the Sahara began to dry up, some of the people moved east to the Nile Valley in Egypt, and in other near by areas. Here, they also created rock paintings and engravings, many of which can be seen today. The earliest art in this area was created by Africans before the time of the Pharaohs in Egypt, between 4000 and 3000 BC. The images represent animals which were already extinct by the time the pyramids were built.
