leads Odysseus to the palace without question, thus showing her kindness. Queen Arete has no fear of the stranger Odysseus, and does not make haste of him. King Alcinous makes a great example of being a hospitable host for his people by bringing Odysseus into his home. By the Phaeacians welcoming Odysseus, they prove themselves as civilized and outstandingly kind people. Without their hospitable manner Odysseus would have never completed his journey as he did.
