Times have changed
For many years, the American people have been immersed in a heated debate
about racism due to the multi-cultural and ethnic differences. Many were frightened,
uneducated, and ignorant to learn about others and turned to discrimination as a solution
to their social and economic difficulties. In his essay The Fire Next Time, James
Baldwin shared his life predicaments and some racial dilemmas that occurred in the
mid-1900s. He asserted that people

rights, justice, and equality. People back then were angry because they received
maltreatment and they were competing with one another for occupation. Now that our
economy has improved and the rate of poverty has decreased, people are not as concern
about their family's income. People are much nicer because they want to improve the
country so that their children will experience better treatments and education.
