In doing so, we should give up all luxuries that are not necessary, treat our enemies and friends alike, and devote our lives to helping those less fortunate than us. However, when I am not in prayer, having some extra luxuries around can be very helpful in terms of helping to keep me focused on another task such as homework. These extra luxuries can also lead to more enjoyment of life, thus helping to relieve stress. So in some ways, simplicity can help and in other ways, if things becomes too simple it can lead to a very dull and boring life.
