After taking a quick quiz, it would seem that I prefer the environment created by a Theory Y management style. Theory Y is the most predominately used method of management. This theory has gone through a few transformations since McGregor first wrote about his X and Y theories in the early 60's. I think that companies have realized that managing people like robots does not promote a sense of ownership among employees and eventually diminishes

the individuals who do best in this management role are seldom tyrants who tell others what to do without listening to their opinions. Rather, they are expert listeners, expert at drawing out a range of views, and expert at winning support for the strategic choices that are eventually made. Positive business management is reflected not only in the specific work group, but also in the bigger picture, reflected in the bottom line of the company.
