I had this overwhelming desire to free the narrator from her husband and the rest of the males in her life. She wanted company, activity and stimulation. Any woman of that time or this time should be free to make these chooses. Gilman did an outstanding job of portraying images that the reader could relate to. This story should hold a place in the heart of every woman struggling to find her place.
