understand what the author is trying to say. When a person writes primarily for self-expression, they are more capable of adding to deleting any ideas they feel applicable to the paper. I feel that when a person writes for an audience that they stick more to the explanatory style of writing, as opposed to exploratory. For this author however, I prefer exploratory. It allows me to express what I need to say fully and completely.
