Okonkwo new the end of his culture was coming so he tries to do whatever he can to stop it. After years of hopelessness he finally sees a way out through death. In "The Second Coming" there is no way to stop the apocalypse from happening. So the world becomes helpless and falls victim to "The Second Coming". The stories that both the book and the poem told were of life's end.
