From the very beginning Wilson emphasized isolationism and neutrality, he tried his best to maintain that, but eventually it all had to come to an end. In my opinion, the Zimmerman Telegram was the most influential of all the other causes, for the United States to enter the war. The other problems may have issued some concern, but once Germany attempted to cross actual U.S. boundaries it was certainly destined for war.
