this area alone could be found certain rare medicinal plants. The lodge pole trees were needed for special lodges for the Sundance ceremonies. Every plant, every animal that lived in the Hills was special for something. It was an area of peace and merit. To the natives, the Cypress Hills were a sacred, respected area. In fact, the Cypress and the Black Hills are the only areas in Canada to have this level of distinction.
