The book The Betrayal of Local 14, by Julius Getman is a very interesting book that explains the seventeen month strike that occurred at the International Paper Company, at the Androscoggin Mill in Jay, Maine. Twelve hundred workers were represented by Local 14 of United Paperworkers International Union.

of the strike were clearly presented. It gave a better view of some of the flaws that there are in the labor force, and the pressure that is involved in a strike was easily distinguished. I enjoyed reading this book, and feel I have better knowledge on the union and management struggle. I feel that today there are fewer strikes because of the communications there is today, although there are still some strikes.
