People are affected by the human weaknesses and faults, found both in themselves and in others around them.
In "The Girl Next Door" the author, Norman Levine, writes of how a recent returnee to Ottawa, is drawn to a newcomer out of need and loneliness. However, as their relationship develops, the excessive demands on his time by the girl next door eventually lead to their separation.

Nor can one feed them gruel and expect that to be sufficient and nutritious. Growing children need all their vitamins and nutrients, BECAUSE they are still growing. This also implies that this woman need not pay much attention to her children. They obviously do not have schooling. All children need schooling, whether it is home schooling, public schooling, or personal tutoring. This woman obviously does not spend the time to think about her children's futures.
