Down By The Salley Gardens by William Butler Yeats
Down by the salley gardens my love and I did meet;
She passed the salley gardens with little snow-white feet.
She bid me take love easy, as the leaves grow on the tree;
But I, being young and foolish, with her would not agree.
In a field by the river my love and I did stand,
And on my leaning shoulder she laid her snow-white hand.

it to personal events. This is a love poem, but at the same time it is a dramatic poem because Yeats expresses his love, but is disappointed by the outcome of the relationship. Personally, I did not like the poem. I found it to be a little dull and uninspired. At the same time, I can see how many people would like it, relating to the experiences dealt with by the rejected lover.
