how horrible some people act towards others when their lives are on the line. The two events also expressed how some people would not be cowardly and have someone else killed in their place. Giles Corey and John Proctor were such men. Unfortunately, in both cases, the people did not perform akin to Giles Corey and John Proctor. For that reason, the events dramatized in The Crucible by Arthur Miller strongly resemble the Red Scare.
