Many people do not realize who or what they are until they are told so or something big happens in their lives. It was the same in my case. I grew up in a very diverse family. My mom is of white descent and my dad is of black descent. Growing up, I never really looked at what race I was and what race other people were. I kind of had a block on color,

Without events like these, whether they cause large pain or a minor one, we would not realize the aspects of who we are. We need to know who we are, because that sets our lives up on what we are going to do in the future, and also what we do now. So if it was not for these wake up calls, we would lead a dull and an unrealistic life.
