Putnam and Parris
In the play, "The Crucible", by Arthur Miller a series of events take place in
Salem involving Mr. Putnam and Parris. Although the actions of these
two mean may appear to motivated by principle, in reality they were motivated by greed
and selfishness. There are several examples throughout the play that substantiate this statement.

others through the witchcraft trials, Putnam and Parris strived to satisfy their greedy and selfish desires. Putnam wanted to gain land and someone to blame his the deaths of his babies on. Parris wanted to show people that he was good and deserved respect. He also wanted people to focus on him instead of Abigail and Betty. Although these two men seemed driven by morals, they were actually motivated by their own greed and selfishness.
