pompeiians had very large gardens as a rule and many of the gardens would've looked very beautiful. the most popular kind of garden was the peristyle because it had colonades which one could walk under in the heat of the day.
a good example of the typical pompeiian and hurculaneum house would be the "house of the surgeon" because it shows the normal layout of a house in those times.
