The debate over gun control is one of the most highly controversial issues of our society today. Perhaps the reason for this is because it deals with a fundamental issue. Gun restrictions and bans on some or all guns calls for a significant change to the social and constitutional systems that we live in today. know better than to put their lives and liberty in the hands of 911 and the police. Gun control and the Bill of Rights cannot coexist. The advocates of gun control believe the government agents are trustworthier than ordinary citizens. The authors of the Second Amendment believed just the opposite. The United States must direct efforts toward controlling crime in another direction. Controlling legal ownership of firearms is not the way to do it.
