As far as literary terms go the word conflict is the struggle found in fiction. Conflict may be internal or external and is best seen in (1) Man in conflict with another Man: (2) Man in conflict in Nature; (3) Man in conflict with himself. Although these are the best and easiest ways to describe fictional conflict, a conflict can also be between ideas. Such as in the short story "Everyday Use," by Alice Walker.

not so luxurious, the same things that are apart of their heritage. On the other hand Dee/Wangero has come to the conclusion that "it is a new day." Wangero could and would never use the thing from her ancestors. She wants to give others the impression that she is in touch with her heritage, by putting her ancestor's things on display, when the truth is that she know nothing about its origin.
