In Edgar Allen Poe?s ?The Cask of Amontiallado?, the reader
quickly realizes that Montresor is not a reliable narrator. In fact, he
is repelled by several aspects of the Villiain?s character which
heighten the effect of horror in the story. First, his motive was
crazy, we know that Montresor could not be trusted. If there was a
legitimate one, Fortunato would have been suspicious.

?The cask of the Amontiallado? was in my opinion a horror story in a league in its own. Think about it, a crazy man, with a crazy motive to kill, made a brilliant plan and was successful at doing it. So here?s the question is Montressor crazy or evil?
