to teach children to read is to arouse the desire to learn in them. He says that you should not guide the pupil to much because he will learn only to follow directions. The pupil needs to be as selfreliant as possible, and reason about things that concern him. Rousseau belived this type of education works the best because the student learns quiker when he is not aware that there is a lesson to learn.
