Reading Jacob Riis's How The Other Half Lives made me feel truly blessed to be living in the era in which I do but at the same time reopened my eyes to social issues facing this nation, such as poverty, that have at times been less than dramatic, but for the majority have always need to be dealt with in a different way than they have been.
