Growing up in East L.A. was a struggle for me. Always having to watch my back because of gang violence was not the best thing in world but it was reality to me. Proud Chicanos such as Cesar Chavez should be role models to those who promote gang violence. His motivation to up bring the Latin community made a worldwide impact and changed the life of many Latinos. If we all follow in his steps and repeat his patterns, we will succeed as a culture.
