I personally preferred the revised chapter rather than the original one. This is because the
original was not descriptive enough and covered a lot of ground in a very short space of time.
In the published ending, Pip returns after eleven years to visit Biddy and Joe. Their son, little
Pip, represents hope for the future and perhaps symbolizes Pip's change of heart.

the moment that Estella was introduced into the book that her and Pip would eventually get
together, the new ending makes this possible
Great Expectations is a very tragic novel and to finish it with an even more tragic ending gives
the reader no relief and no reward.
