was more accepted than fate, Gatsby could not keep up his made up life. And also it was shown that not everything has a picture perfect ending, especially in the real world, with the guy getting the girl. This book overall ushered in an age of realism, showing that such a character as Jay Gatsby would not be able to function as a part of the actual world and therefore probably could not even exist.
