Fannie Lou Townsend was born in a Mongomery County in Mississippi. She was the 20th
child in her family. When she was 2 she and her family moved to sunflowercounty,
Mississippi. The townsends were poor sharecrppers. A share cropper someone who
works on someone elses land and gives the owner 50% of what they make. Sharecroppers
were only allowed to go to school for 4 month a year. Fannie went to school until 6th
grade because the family

I think Fannie Lou Hammer was a great success . She started off picking cotton
from the cotton fields to to being able to run for senate. She did not give now matter how
hard it was. Even when she was made fun of, put to jail beacas of believing blacks were
equal to whites, when she was threatoned her life and beaton up.
