up the basic proportion, both of the men in the story can see, almost smell the evil in the far of waters of the ocean, then both of the works develop the consistent and reasonable consequences, in "MS found in a Bottle," the consequence is the navigation of the seas and in "A Descent into the Maelstrom," the consequence is the old man's hair turning from a jet black to being pure white from fear.
