In Canto I, Dante has strayed from the True Way into the Dark Wood of Error. He opens his eyes and sees the mount Mount of Joy which is lit up by the sun. He wants to spread the word to everyone so the world will become a better place with no violence, corruption and fraud. I think he wants to see a world with less sinners. Dante wants to let everyone know what he experienced and what he saw these sinners go through.
