In this book there are a lot of different themes and without them this book wouldn't be what it is. I chose to concentrate on the theme people lie to get themselves out of trouble. At first they might know they are lying, but as time goes on, they may come to believe their own lie because it becomes so real to them.

is no excuse for lying, even if you think it's going to solve everything, because in most cases, it only makes things worse. The Crucible was written after a time knows as the red scare. Arthur Miller was accused of communism and convicted, but he wasn't punished. By reading this play I know how he must have felt. And I know that he knows that lying is not the solution to your problems.
