Blindness can normally be defined as the inability of the eye to see, but according to Shakespeare, blindness is not a physical quality, but a mental flaw some people possess. Gloucester, Albany didn?t suffer from his blindness, he survived
his battle and lived as the ruler of Lear?s kingdom.
It is near impossible to say that one will never be blind, but, one must remember that one can not only be physically blind, but also mentally flawed. According to Shakespeare?s works, everyone, like Albany, Lear, and Gloucester, has been blind at some point in their life. Such is the nature of humans.
