a killing spree throughout Beowulf's kingdom. Beowulf was reluctant to slay the beast because the dragon had a right to be upset and in truth Beowulf was old and knew he wouldn't make it out of this battle alive. He fights and dies in the name of his country. Beowulf went down in history as a great king and the Geats did not live happily ever after, as foreshadowed at the end of the poem.
