Wonder Woman, the modern Artemis, while much more gentile than her original character, reflects many of the same characteristics and attributes of Artemis. Modern story telling has a way of manufacturing classic tales to fit the trends of the time period in which the story is told. I believe that as time goes on, a new Artemis will be created and her story will continue to be passed on.
