The poem on Elizabeth ends by stating "and buds new blown to have so short a date,/is by His hand alone that guides nature and fate." These lines uncover Bradstreet's religious belief of fate being chosen by God. It is astounding how a few metaphorical images and a bit of organization can spice up a poem and open a whole new window to it.
