Bray remarks about Williams' life, "[Williams'] father was home all the time, and that was one of the major problems of [his] family" (quoted in Williams XI). Because this play is considered to be autobiographical, one can logically conclude that Mr. Wingfield's absence has a tremendous effect on the present dysfunctional state of the family.
