Advanced Placement courses and Honors courses are crucial elements in developing a successful college student. If students do well in Advanced Placement and Honor courses in high school, they are relatively accurate indicators of how well that student will perform in a challenging college environment. UC campuses and all other universities should reduce the emphasis they place on SAT scores. The number of AP and Honors courses a student takes will more likely determine their academic development and also how successful they will be at a university.
Besides the many positive factors of taking AP courses listed above there are still many disadvantages for students in poorer communities, also there are students with availability to them have been abusing them.
