observed every little detail about everything. This technique again told the reader a lot about Sammy and created a climate in which the story is taking place. One example is his description of the chunky girl in a bright green bathing suit. He pointed out every little thing even her tan-line. This much detail makes the story seem very intriguing and realistic. People want to read about things that everybody notices but never talk about.
