Alexie created dozens of people, and I feel this is to intrigue the reader and make you think of all the different possibilities that it could be. After carefully evaluating as many potential scenarios as possible, I believe the killer is a ghost, summoned by Indians conducting the ghost dance; and as more and more become part of it, more white people will perish from it.
