An American Slave by Frederick Douglass is an autobiography of his entire life. One of the reasons he wrote this book was to show people that such an expressive and bright man could not have once been a slave. Douglass was then rented to William Freeland, even though Freeland was milder and a fairer man, he was still going to escape. Frederick went on to become a famous orator, U.S. minister to Haiti, and a leader of his people. <Tab/>This autobiography was very interesting, and I would recommend it to anyone doing a history project.
