The critics and the viewers liked the original ending which was traditional and boring, the ending that most families would like to see. pretty good play. I have read it twice, so knowing what happens the second time around isn't as good. But I feel that if I read this play in the 19th century I would have appreciated it more. I think the play gave a great sense of what a family house holds were like in the 19th century, as well as a clear understanding to how much society and morals have changed over the years.
