that that is the way it has always been and always will be. The final lines of the play invite the audience to engage directly with Feste and it is with him that the final resonance of the play is remembered. It is a reminder that frivolous behaviour leads to superficiality and this resonance serves to emphasise the superficiality of the resolutions of the play and to leave questions of what is truly meaningful unanswered.
